Pickup from the Tangier port or airport. After a brief tour of the city, we depart for Chefchaouen, one of the most beautiful small towns in the Rif Mountains, famous for being painted in shades of blue. We will take a pleasant walk through this Moorish-style city. Overnight stay in Chefchaouen.
We cross the Rif Mountains toward the Imperial City of Meknes. We will visit its historic walls and the Sultan’s mausoleum. After lunch, we continue to Midelt, traveling through the vast cedar forests. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Transfer to Merzouga via Errachidia and the Ziz Valley, passing through traditional local villages. Upon arrival in the desert, you will see the spectacular Erg Chebbi dunes. We settle into a hotel located right at the edge of the dunes. These dunes are among the highest in Morocco, and climbing them is an exhilarating experience. Overnight stay in a hotel or traditional desert tents (Jaimas) in Merzouga.
After breakfast, we set out on a desert excursion following the original “Paris-Dakar Rally” route. We will visit desert nomads to share tea with a local family and see the oasis where films like *Sahara* (starring Penélope Cruz) were filmed. We will also visit Khamlia, known as the “village of the blacks,” a community settled by people originally brought from Sudan. After lunch, our next adventure begins: a camel safari into the heart of the dunes to witness a spectacular sunset. Tonight will be special; we sleep in typical Berber tents and enjoy dinner to the sound of drums under a starry sky. Dinner and overnight stay.
We rise early to watch the sunrise from the top of a great dune. After breakfast, we return to the village by dromedary and head toward Rissani, the historic supply center for ancient Saharan caravans. We continue through the Middle Atlas, returning to Fes in the late afternoon. Dinner and overnight stay in a hotel or Riad.
In the morning, we continue our journey back toward Tangier. At the agreed time, we will provide the transfer to the ferry port or the airport. End of our 6-day Tangier to Desert service.
