4 day Tour from Marrakech to Fez
Our 4-day route from Marrakech to Fes via Merzouga begins shortly after our meeting. We will head toward the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, traveling along the scenic High Atlas road. Stop at Ait Ben Haddou, one of Morocco’s most iconic locations and a famous backdrop for Hollywood films such as *Gladiator* and *Kingdom of Heaven*. Afterward, we will visit Ouarzazate, which also features in these films. We then continue to the Skoura Oasis, one of the most lush oases in Morocco. Finally, we head to the Dades Valley and its gorges to explore the unique rock formations known as the “Monkey Fingers” before checking into a hotel with panoramic views.
After breakfast and a shower, we will head to Tinghir, an oasis town, and the Todra Gorges. These gorges are the highest canyons in Morocco, offering truly impressive landscapes. Next, we travel to the Tafilalt Oasis, home to the largest palm groves in the country. After visiting the desert towns of Erfoud and Rissani, Arrive at our destination: Merzouga, where we will settle into a hotel to rest.
In the morning, we will explore the Merzouga region, starting with Rissani, historically an important market for caravans. Next, we visit Khamlia, a village with a rich tradition of Gnawa music. Then we visit Lake Dayet Srij, which hosts flamingos and other birds during the spring. Afterward, we will visit local nomads in their tents. At the end of the day, we return to Merzouga before setting off on a camel trek into the Erg Chebbi dunes. We will climb the high dunes to witness a fascinating sunset before heading to the desert camp. There, we will enjoy various activities, including dancing to live traditional music and stargazing. The nomads will host and entertain us until we retire for the night.
On this day, we rise early to watch the sunrise—an unmissable spectacle in the Sahara. We will ride the camels once more back to Merzouga to collect our luggage at the hotel, where we will have a shower and breakfast. Afterward, we visit the iconic town of Rissani to explore its ancient caravan market. We then begin our return to Fes, passing through Erfoud—the city of fossils—and its surroundings. We travel northwest toward Fes, passing through Middle Atlas towns such as Azrou and Ifrane. Visit the cedar forest to observe the local monkeys. This marks the end of our 4-day tour from Marrakech to Fes.

This route is strategic for optimizing your trip. At Viajemos Marruecos, we recommend it because it allows you to cross the country from south to north, experiencing the desert along the way, saving you the long trip back to Marrakech and allowing you to continue your exploration northward or to Chefchaouen from Fez.
Absolutely! If you want to spend more time with the nomads, take a 4x4 tour, or add a sandboarding session, we can tailor the itinerary to your preferences. As this is a private tour, you decide the pace of your exploration in the Merzouga region.
It's a fascinating change of scenery. You'll go from the aridity of the desert to the alpine landscapes of Ifrane and the lush cedar forests. It's a long journey, but very enjoyable thanks to the stops to see the macaque monkeys and enjoy the fresh mountain air before arriving at the medina of Fez.

Solo teníamos un fin de semana y este tour fue perfecto. Dormir en el desierto es algo que hay que hacer una vez en la vida. El guía fue súper amable y el 4x4 muy cómodo.
