Detailed itinerary :

15 day tour from Marrakech to the Erg Chebbi Desert

Day 1: Arrival In Marrakech

Pick-up by our staff and transfer to your hotel.

Day 2: Marrakech City Tour

In the morning, we visit Marrakech, founded by the Almoravids in the 11th century. Highlights include: the Koutoubia minaret, the symbol of the city and a true jewel of Almohad art; the Saadian Tombs; the Bahia Palace; the Medina; and the famous Jemaa el-Fnaa square, where a crowd of vendors, acrobats, and storytellers gather. Free afternoon.

Day 3: Marrakech – Casablanca – Rabat

Breakfast and departure for Casablanca, the economic capital of the country. We will take a panoramic tour featuring the Anfa district, the United Nations Park, the Boulevard de la Corniche, and the Hassan II Mosque (optional interior visit). We then continue to the Imperial City of Rabat to visit the Royal Palace, the Mohammed V Mausoleum, and the Hassan Tower, among other sites. Overnight in Rabat.

Day 4: Rabat – Asilah

Departure from Rabat toward Asilah. We visit this fortified town, known for its remarkably clean medina overlooking the Atlantic. Founded during the Phoenician era, it offers a peaceful atmosphere. Free afternoon in Asilah. Overnight in Asilah.

Day 5: Asilah – Tangier – Chefchaouen

After breakfast, we depart for Tangier for a panoramic tour of this city facing the sea. We will visit the Hercules Caves, the Cap Spartel viewpoints, and take a stroll through its Kasbah. Afterward, we head toward Chefchaouen (the “Blue Village”), a holy city of Islam located in the Rif Mountains, characterized by its white houses and intense blue doors. Overnight in Chefchaouen.

Day 6: Chefchaouen – Fes

Following breakfast, you will have free time to visit the city before departing for Fes, a beautiful city founded in the 8th century. Fes is the oldest of the Moroccan Imperial Cities, with a medina that transports us to the 13th century. Here, artisans are grouped by streets and activities reminiscent of ancient guilds, living alongside rural families who have moved here in recent years. Accommodation in a Riad.

Day 7: Fes – Guided Tour of Fes

A free day in the city. As the intellectual and artisanal capital, and the most “imperial” of Morocco’s cities, Fes is the pearl of the Arab world—a place of grand sensations. Much like Florence or Athens, the traveler comes here seeking the treasure of a civilization and the inexhaustible wealth of a generous and varied life. Fes invites you on multiple journeys through its refined palaces and sensual atmosphere.

Day 8: Fes – Ifrane – Midelt – Merzouga Desert

Breakfast. Departure toward the Middle Atlas Mountains, home to semi-nomadic Berber shepherd communities. En route, we cross through Ifrane, “Moroccan Switzerland,” and enjoy the panoramic views offered by the marvelous cedar forests, where we can observe the local colony of Barbary macaques. Leaving the bustle of the big cities behind, we encounter a kind and peaceful population. We enter the High Atlas Mountains toward Errachidia, passing through the Ziz Gorges and Valley, and later Erfoud, to arrive in Merzouga, where we will stay in a hotel at the foot of the dunes.

Day 9: Exploring The Desert

After breakfast, we set out on a desert excursion, visiting nomads to share a mint tea. We will visit the Rissani market and the Gnawa village of Khamlia to listen to their spiritual music. In the afternoon, we return to the hotel to begin the camel trek and spend the night in the middle of the Sahara dunes. Overnight in a Berber camp.

Day 10: Merzouga – Todra Gorges – Ouarzazate

We recommend waking up early to enjoy the sunrise over the dunes. Breakfast and departure toward the Todra Gorges. The Todra River has eroded a narrow defile with vertical walls over 300 meters high. We continue toward the “Route of the Kasbahs,” a journey through a series of adobe fortresses with crenelated towers. We pass through Kalaat M’Gouna, famous for its roses and perfumes. Overnight in Ouarzazate.

Day 11: Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou – Marrakech

Breakfast. Visit to the Taourirt Kasbah. We then continue to the Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage site. We depart for Marrakech, crossing the Tichka Pass (2,260m altitude) with spectacular landscapes. Overnight in Marrakech.

Day 12: Marrakech – Essaouira

After breakfast, we depart for the coastal city of Essaouira, passing through the Argan Valley. Upon arrival, you will find a city filled with small squares, walls, fortifications, and historical monuments. It is a pleasant and unique historical and cultural heritage site, where the most characteristic features are its craftsmanship, culture, and traditions. Overnight in Essaouira.

Day 13: Visit Of Essaouira

After breakfast, we visit the medina, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2001. Known as the “City of Wind and Light,” its appearance may remind you of the “white villages” of Andalusia. It has earned nicknames such as “The Pearl of the Atlantic” and “The Sleeping Beauty.” It is a place of peace where cultures, civilizations, and religions—including Phoenicians, Romans, Berbers, Carthaginians, Portuguese, and French—have mingled for centuries. Overnight in Essaouira.

Day 14: Free Day In Essaouira

A free day in Essaouira for optional activities: shopping, massages, or seaside strolls.

Day 15: Essaouira – Marrakech Airport

Breakfast and, at the agreed time, transfer to the airport for your return flight from Marrakech.

This is the most comprehensive route because it leaves nothing out. At Viajemos Marruecos, we know that many travelers want to see everything in a single trip: the desert, the mountains, the historic cities, and the coast. This itinerary allows you to do so at a balanced pace, especially at the end with three days in Essaouira to relax before returning home.

In 15 days, you will experience very different climates. Tangier and Essaouira have a cool Atlantic climate, while the desert and Marrakech can be very hot during the day and cold at night. We recommend bringing a variety of clothing and dressing in layers so you can adapt to each region.

The night at the Berber camp in Merzouga is a comfortable experience. The haimas are equipped with beds and blankets, and the evening includes dinner and drum music. It is the perfect time to unwind and enjoy the absolute peace of the desert.
